Tourism Alliance of North Yorkshire

NORTH YORKSHIRE'S ORIGINAL SUPPORT NETWORK

Established over 45 years ago and originally known as the Tourism Association of North Yorkshire, TANY was a private sector tourism association that historically was part of the Moors and Coast Tourism Partnership. This partnership was established to promote the tourism economy in the North Yorkshire Moors and Coast region. TANY worked to support businesses, promote the area, and improve services for visitors.

History

Tourism Association North Yorkshire

1980-2024

TANY aimed to enhance the tourism economy, benefiting businesses, residents, and the environment. This was achieved through coordinated efforts in promotion, business support, and visitor services.

TANY was involved in various activities, including producing and distributing local area visitor information leaflets, as well as supporting campaigns like "art and heritage," "delicious," and "outdoor adventure". TANY also worked on product development and improving the efficiency of the visitor information center network.

Tourism Alliance North Yorkshire

2025 Onwards

Today TANY exsits as the Tourism Alliance of North Yorkshire, working to support the tourism industry and draw on its 45 years of experience in the sector of Tourism & Hospitality. TANY is now partnered with Visiting North Yorkshire to further enhance their already impressive offering.

As an organisation in it's 5th decade, TANY has seen many "official," local government-run Tourism & Hospitality organisations come and go. Always with the same promises of supporting tourism & hospitality across the County and looking after business interests big and small. Yet always managing to fall short, never ceasing to underwhelm, often embroiuled in controversy and usually focussing on the "big boys" to the detriment of small businesses - the ones who put the true graft in, 24/7.

TANY believes that Visiting North Yorkshire are the "real deal," being totally independent, not in receipt of council funding and able to truly be a voice for the unrepresented small businesses in the County.

Joining Visiting North Yorkshire offers unrivalled value for money, and in a time when every penny counts, what could be more important than that?
